Accreditation from the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences has many benefits for the accredited program and its students. It will facilitate admissions recruitment efforts and promote program enrollment growth by adding value prospective students and parents can recognize through concrete outcomes data and additional perks provided by CoAES sponsoring organizations.
- Many program administrators are wary of accrediting standards that dictate faculty numbers, lab space, facility size, et cetera. These concerns are not an issue here because the joint CoAES–CAAHEP accreditation is outcomes based.
- CoAES–CAAHEP provides an additional seal of approval that national standards and guidelines have been met within the program.
- With CoAES accreditation programs also receive official endorsement from CoAES’s sponsoring organizations: American Council on Exercise, American College of Sports Medicine, American Kinesiotherapy Association, National Academy of Sports Medicine, and The National Council on Strength and Fitness. This adds an extra layer of acknowledgement programs can use when appealing to prospective students and parents.
- Students enrolled in a CoAES accredited program are eligible to receive vouchers for certification exams for most of the respective CoAES sponsoring organizations, providing cost savings for students and generating another measure of outcomes data for the accredited program.
